Chelytherium is the project of Preston-based guitarist Craig Cooper-Miller, combining influences ranging from ambient music, to film scores, to noise music and post-rock. Chelytherium creates lush, expansive soundscapes that build to a crescendo, pushing the capabilities of his guitar and effects pedals.Initially started in 2012 as a calming, reflective force for his own mental health, Cooper-Miller has since released two albums as Chelytherium: 2014's nature themed Natural Light, and 2018's more introspective effort, Mother Earth Father Sun.Chelytherium has performed in a range of venues including Preston's Harris Museum, The Ferret, Brockholes Nature Reserve, Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, and Manchester's Antwerp Mansion. When brought to a live setting, the songs are expanded with variations and improvised elements, making each performance a unique experience.
